About the Hamilton: Built in the “Art Deco Moderne” style in 1929, the then-called Alexander Hamilton was an “apartment hotel” featuring kitchenettes, a full-service staff and restaurant. It’s proximity to the Theater District attracted notable opera singers and stage actors who stayed while they were performing locally. In 1962 the building was the first in San Francisco (perhaps all of California) to condo convert. Some units were combined to create 186 total units for sale and the name became The Hamilton.
